The UCSD Community Stations Initiative was a collaborative project conducted at UCSD with the Department of Communication, the Department of Visual Arts, and the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2). The Initiative embraced overarching ideals as set forth to describe an “engaged university” (Schensul), the leveraging of shrinking educational resources, and a designed mutual appropriation of goals between university departments, disciplines, and local urban stratifications.
